The library

The library is open at break and lunchtimes as well as after school, and is staffed by a Librarian.

The main aim of the library is to support literacy across the curriculum and reading for pleasure. Books are loaned for a period of two weeks and should either be returned or renewed no later than the last date stamped onto the date label found on the title page. Pupils with overdue books will not be able to borrow anymore books until they are returned. Once the book has been issued to a user it becomes their responsibility both inside and outside of school.

Stock

The library currently holds over 8000 books and there are 13 computers to be used for research and homework.  Printed resources are selected by factors such as suitability for age and ability. High impact books for reluctant readers are regularly added. Stock selection aims to be dynamic in its approach.

Books on issues such as adolescence, growing up, dealing with emotions, healthy eating, etc are readily available.
