New year 7 information

Information useful to new students starting in September

Welcome to Four Dwellings Academy!

Welcome to Lift Four Dwellings Secondary!

We are delighted that you have chosen Lift Four Dwellings for your child to continue their education.

As your Year 6 child enters their final term at primary school we understand that they will be feeling a mixture of excitement and apprehension at starting secondary school with us in September. We likewise recognise that many parents or carers will also be feeling the same!

We want to ensure that your child is prepared as can be, with all the support and information that they need. If your child has any additional needs please don't worry,  we will be dropping into your child's Primary Schools very soon and will be in touch with you to discuss any additional needs.

A message from Mr Stanton - Head of KS3

You have made an excellent choice of school to start your new adventure and I would like to personally welcome everyone to the school. As well as myself, all of the staff at Four Dwellings are looking forward to meeting everyone and we are also excited to start you off on a learning journey towards success.  As a school, we have gone from strength to strength over the past few years and we hope that you will all become part of this and help push us further and further forwards.

We understand that moving onto Secondary school can be a daunting experience for pupils, as well as for parents and carers.  We at Four Dwellings want to make this as easy and smooth as possible for everyone.  The link below has some helpful hints and advice for starting a new school from people who have already been there and done it, please have a look and hopefully it will put your minds at ease.

The Key stage 3 pastoral team have been working hard behind the scenes to start to get things ready for September and have already spoken to many of your current teachers and we are starting to make contact with you at home to find out a little about you, but we would like to know more, so see below for your first challenge!

Challenge Number 1 – Who are you?
Challenge Number 2

Bizarre Reading Challenge

At Lift Four Dwellings Secondary we will expect you to bring a reading book to school each day. Reading is a

valuable skill and each day at Four Dwellings  you will be asked to take part in DEAR. DEAR

stands for Drop Everything and Read.

Therefore, for this week’s challenge can you find the most bizarre place to read? We are looking for

the most unusual or interesting place to read you book, magazine or comic.

You can enter by taking a photograph or you reading and emailing it to

rstanton@liftfourdwellingssec.org or by writing about where you have read your book and

emailing it to the address above.

An example from Mrs Stanton:

I read my book (The Power of Four) hiding in the wardrobe away from the rest of the Stanton

family!

We look forward to seeing where you can take your reading!

Good Luck!
